Title: Shut the Box Research!

Grade Level(s): 4th grade and 5th grade Social Studies

Description:
First activity: Students will look at the Shut the Box Research board and familiarize themselves with the Indians that they will be researching. They will then proceed to follow the instructions on the board to find out which Indians they will be researching. The students will participate in a game called Shut the Box. Students will open the box and roll the die. They then will find the research instructions on a card that has a corresponding number in the box. The group will then research the culture, art, and society of their group of Indians. They will give a group presentation on their Indian tribe. They will also do art projects that correspond to their Indian tribe.

Second activity: Students will view picture puzzles to see if they can match the pictures on the laptop to the pictures on the board in less than 1 minute.
