Title: Famous African-Americans

Grade Level(s): 6th-8th Grade (Black History Month)

Description:
This activity will be conducted in conjunction with a classroom study of famous African-Americans and their contributions to American history. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Wilma Rudolph, Harriet Tubman, Booker T. Washington, Jackie Robinson and Madame C. J. Walker are featured for this activity and display. (There are many other people who could be featured and interchanged into this activity.)

The students will have lessons about these famous people and important facts from their lives. At the end of the month/unit, the class will be divided into groups and be presented with boxes containing photographs and other information about one of these people. The students will work together to examine the information and determine who the person is.
