| AAM
began in 1999 in western North Carolina as a pilot program sponsored by
the Library of Congress and made possible through the efforts of Congressman
Charles Taylor and the Education Research Consortium. With a mission to
train in-service and pre-service K-12 educators to access, use and produce
curriculum utilizing technology, the Internet and the digitized primary
source materials from the collections of the Library of Congress, Phase
I of the AAM program worked with over 600 teachers in western NC and upstate
SC. During the fall of 2003 the AAM program began its transition into Phase II where the training moved from classroom-style training to on-site workshops. |
